It is in a road case. I was hoping you lovely people might have some suggestions on ways to keep the cost down. I use private couriers where I can watch it get loaded myself. I'm Canadian so I can't help you with the specifics, but uShip is pretty popular and has lots of options.
Thanks, I've never heard of uShip. I looked into it and it looks like UPS is actually going to be cheaper oddly enough. Thanks for the tip. I've shipped instruments through ups before and never had any problems, and I always buy insurance. I was just hoping there was a cheaper way, but I guess there really isn't one. If it's a worthwhile road case then it should be okay shipped through UPS or fedex or one of the bigger guys.
If there is any room inside the case fill it by wrapping the amp in bubble wrap or some other material. Secure any loose components within the chassis as best you can. If you want to keep the road case looking good wrap the outside as best you can. Ground shipping from the major carriers will take about a week and won't be cheap but won't be crazy either. With a combo the added size might increase that price.
I haven't tried it but I know people have recommended greyhound freight for shipping large things like cabs. I've found that shipping bigger stuff through Greyhound Bus parcel service is significantly cheaper than UPS..
